A City of Unseen ListenersA Monsoon Heritage Walk at Feroz Shah Kotla

Our last walk traced the decline of the Delhi Sultanate. In this walk, we go back a few centuries to the Tughlaq era and the fifth city of Delhi — Ferozabad, founded by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq in 1354. The ruins of Feroz Shah Kotla still hold traces of that once-grand city: its fortress, baoli, dungeon and the mighty Ashokan pillar. However, in these traces are also spiritual beings made not from clay but smokeless flames and light. Even now, behind the thick monsoon mist something unseen lingers in the air — half memory, half myth. You may not be the only ones listening.
