The Archive of Shadows: A Monsoon Heritage Walk Along the Purana Qila Walls

In our next monsoon heritage trail we invite you to walk with us along the peripheral wall of the Purana Qila (Old Fort) by the serene waters of the newly restored moat. Turning the corner, where the Mathura road meets Bhairon Marg, stands the Talaaqi Darwaza (Forbidden Gate), the now moss-covered northern gate of the fort, embellished with Rajput style chhatris, ornate jharokhas, among other details. It was here that the Rajputs of Kishangarh and Marwar once rode and kept watch. On a quiet night when the city is asleep, the faint canter of hooves can be heard drifting through the silence – a reminder that the fort’s defences guard stories as vehemently as they would once protect the lives of those living within it.

Please note: Entry into Purana Qila will not be part of this walk.
