Exploring Qilaa’h Lal Kot and Sanjay Van: A Monsoon Heritage Walk

The remnants of Lal Kot, the first fortress city of Delhi, stand as a testament to a rich history shaped by the Tomars, Chauhans, Mamluks, Khiljis, and other dynasties. Nestled between Vasant Kunj and Mehrauli, this ancient city conceals the often overlooked narratives of Delhi’s chequered past. Inhabiting it’s verdant outcrops are unique resident and migratory birds, whose melodies fill the otherwise quiet air. And in the evening, when the sun quietly sets in the distant horizon, obscured by the dark monsoon clouds, countless fireflies illuminate the fort’s moss-covered walls.
For our next monsoon heritage walk, we will perch ourselves on these enchanting walls and immerse in an evening of storytelling through time and twilight.
