Heritage Walk at the Qilaa e Kuhna (Old Fort)

In Delhi’s bustling central district stands the Old Fort, or Purana Qila, once believed to be the site of the city’s oldest settlement inhabited by the Pandavas. This historical precinct has witnessed the rise and fall of many great empires as they jostled to leave their lasting imprint in the strategic heartland of Delhi. From Humayun’s Dinpanah to Sher Shah Suri’s Shergarh, the fort’s weathered battlements encapsulate many memories – some more well-known than others. In our next heritage walk we bring to you stories of this exalted fort that will enliven the ancient past as well as the more recent history of India’s partition. We will take a slow walk within the fort complex to pause and imbibe the surroundings as we experience the many chapters of its history, ending with an iftar, as we’ve been doing this month. See you there.
