Heritage Walk at Chirag-e-Dehli Dargah and Bahlol
Lodhi’s Tomb
This weekend Delhi Karavan invites you to step into the spiritual courtyard of the revered Sufi saint, Hazrat Nasiruddin Mahmud, popularly known as Chirag-e-Dehli (The Lamp of Delhi). The dargah, although situated in the heart of the bustling city, is a quiet oasis that offers a glimpse into the mystical world of Sufism.
In this walk let’s unpack together the lives of Sufi saints through stories of faith and humility and their profound impact on Delhi’s history. Nearby lies the tomb of Bahlol Lodhi, a significant yet understated monument, symbolising the shift towards Lodhi architecture in India’s architectural history. Today, the structure’s dilapidated condition is a harsh reminder of the immediate attention our heritage needs with the passage of time. Join us as we journey through January exploring tales of power struggles, devotion, and the enduring legacy of the Sultanate and Lodhi periods.
