Heritage Walk at Qilaa e Rai Pithora

The karavan this time sets forth to visit the fort ruins of one of the oldest cities of Delhi. Lal Kot, the first city of Delhi, was once ruled by Rajputs, Tomars, Chauhans, Mamluks, Khiljis and witnessed the rise and fall of so many dynasties and empires. The remains of the city fort’s walls and extensions are scattered across South Delhi – we’ll visit the ones visible in present Saket at “Qila Rai Pithora”.
In the lush green lawns and amidst the enchanting fort walls that reach out to make you hear their tales, we will listen to the stories that unfolded here in the early medieval times – the less-discussed times of Prithvi Raj Chauhan, the beginning of the Sultanate period and the times of Sultan Altamash, the childhood tales of Sultan Razia and the interesting way she came to be crowned as the first female ruler of the subcontinent, and a lot more about the emergence of various cities and all that gradually led to the making of Delhi!
