Heritage Walk at the Najaf Khan Tomb: A Saga of 18th Century Delhi Part II

The 18th century was a hard time for Delhi. The empire was breaking apart and the old order was slipping away. In the midst of the fading glory of the Mughal empire arrived Mirza Najaf Khan from Persia. As a commander-in-chief of Emperor Shah Alam’s army, he brought discipline to a crumbling court, pushed back invaders, and held the city together when few else could. He wasn’t a poet or a king but he gave the empire something it had almost lost – strength – the strength to push through the last twilight of a once glorious empire.
